Summary

  • This CG animation work tells the story of the main character who lost his father in an accident in outer space, and who recovers from his grief to become an astronaut in order to see the scenery his father used to see.The background modeling and the rocket launch scene are characterized by the highly realistic and detailed work that the creator has put a great deal of effort into.
The work has also won the Audience Award.

Juries Comment

  • The level of shading and texturing is very high, and I was particularly astounished by the high level of detail and texture of the astronauts' suits, etc., which appeared at the beginning of the film, during their EVA activities.
I think it is a wonderful work that pursues even the smallest details such as camera scratches and images from the camera mounted on the rocket.

Yoshiya Yamada(Industrial Light & Magic Senior Digital Artist)

  • The overall technology, including CGI technology, was very high, and the film was very attractive. In particular, the composition, lighting, and the use of music, which I guess was inspired by "2001: A Space Odyssey" and "Interstellar," were also very good and tasteful.
In addition, it could be even more dramatic by making the story ending more elaborate, like creating an unexpected ending to the part which is the core of the story, "Why did the father disappear?", using gimmicks such as making the audience realize that what they thought was a collision with debris was actually not the case, but something reflected in the mirror of the space suit in the photograph the main character is looking at in the space station at the end.
I thought it would have been great if there had been an ending that evoked an emotion of a father-child relationship.

    Yuuki Hara(Producer / Director / Screenwriter)

  • It is truly an example of the fact that God is in the details. Every detail of the room was finely crafted, even the books at the back of the taps were finely crafted. I thought it was the work with the highest overall quality.
