After starting filmmaking as a high-school student, Hara began composing for theatrical movies, and working as assistant director for CG and variety shows when he was a student at Digital Hollywood University.
After graduation, he joined Avex Inc. and worked as an assistant director under film director Tetsuo Shinohara, and also started working as a CG and VFX designer. Since 2011, he has been in charge of advertising and producing work for movies, dramas, and anime productions, including "Lesson of the Evil: Prologue".
In 2014, he began planning and producing movies and dramas, and for the 2019 drama "Scum", he not only planned and produced it, but drafted the original script and directed, winning the 57th Galaxy Award.
In 2020, he left Avex Inc. and established Ghost Gate Films. The 2022 movie "Karada Sagashi" (English Title: "Re/Member") which he planned and produced, recorded grossed 1.17 billion yen at the box office and the No. 1 live-action movie for four consecutive weeks in the weekend attendance rankings.
In addition to planning and producing movies and dramas, he is also active as a director, screenwriter, and manga author.
